Guess what?!

I’m done with my major reading list. I’ve finished. (Actually, this happened around 4ish on Tuesday, I just didn’t blog about it then.) Yay!

I’m going to spend the rest of this week reading a bit more and writing up a couple of issues that have interested me, and then next week I turn to my minor reading list which I’ll hopefully work through in about three weeks.

Today, then, is going to be dedicated to more Stoic epistemology. I want to look more at Constance Meinwald’s claims regarding opinion and knowledge…so hopefully (if I’m appropriately disciplined) there will be a blog entry about that sometime later this evening.

In other news, today they’re predicting a high of 108, tomorrow a high of 109. This wouldn’t be so bad (ok…it’ll always be bad) except we’re in monsoon season and so that 108 is accompanied by 30-40% humidity. And before you scoff at us weak Tucsonans who grumble about 30% humidity (or, at least, me who grumbles about this), know that my house is cooled by a swamp cooler which 1) adds further moisture into the air and 2) doesn’t work all that well when it’s humid. So not only is it blisteringly hot, my principal means of cooling my house isn’t all that effective and, in some respects, actually exacerbates the problem. The cats have taken to sleeping under the bed or on the tiled bathroom floors and I have developed a fondness for iced drinks of any sort.

OK…that’s it. I’m going to go pour myself a nice tall glass of iced coffee, turn on the fan, aim it directly toward me, secure any loose papers in my vicinity, and start thinking about the Stoics. :-)

LOL Friday’s puts out a lovely Iced Mudslide mix!!!! Scott & I have been quite enjoying that this week. All you’ve gotta do for a pitcher of the stuff is 4 cups of ice, 1-1/2 cup of the mudslide mix, blend well, and ENJOY!!!!! My problem is that I take big “sips” and wind up with nasty brain freezes. Those are not pleasant, of course. Best of luck keeping cool!!! Can you put ice in the cat’s water??? Even one or two cubes at a time might help it keep even cooler for them.

    TTYS!!! –Kati

  2. They’ve actually got this little cat fountain thing which cycles the water constantly. I’ve been filling it with cold water daily, although perhaps an icecube or two will help.

The mudslide mix sounds yummy…right now I’ve been finding that iced coffee and iced almond tea have been my favorite drinks of choice.
